Article 74 of GDPR: Tasks of The Chair
Article 74 of GDPR outlines the tasks of the Chair of the European Data Protection Board.
Duties of the EDPB Chair (Article 74(1) GDPR)
GDPR imposes the following duties and tasks on the Chair of the EDPB:
- Call the meetings of the Board and prepare its meeting agenda (Article 74(1)(a) GDPR)
- Notify the Board’s decisions to the lead supervisory authority and concerned supervisory authorities (Article 74(1)(b) GDPR)
- Ensure the Board performs its duties in a timely fashion particularly with respect to the consistency mechanism (Article 74(1)(c) GDPR)
Tasks of the deputy chairs (Article 74(2) GDPR)
The EDPB’s rules of procedure should define the allocation of duties and tasks between the Chair and the deputy chairs.
