Keep reading as I have gathered exactly the information that you need!

Let me explain the meaning of 2 business days and how long it is!

Are you ready?

Let’s get started!

How Long Is 2 Business Day

A good question that some of you may ask is how long is 2 business days?

The answer is that it depends.

The duration of two business days can vary depending on what day you start counting the number of business days.

Even though it’s easy to assume that two business days is 48 hours (meaning two consecutive 24 hour days), but it’s not necessarily the case depending on when you start counting your two days.

Let me provide you with a quick calculation table.

Two Business Day Calculation

Here is the breakdown of the duration of two business days depending on what day of the week you start counting:

  • Monday => Wednesday (2 days)
  • Tuesday => Thursday (2 days)
  • Wednesday => Friday (2 days)
  • Thursday => Monday (4 days)
  • Friday => Tuesday (4 days)
  • Saturday => Tuesday (3 days)
  • Sunday => Tuesday  (2 days)

In essence, since Saturday and Sunday are not considered business days, they will not count.

For example, if you buy something on Monday and the delivery is to be expected within 2 business days, it means that you can expect it on Wednesday representing 2 days (Tuesday and Wednesday).

However, if you buy something on , delivery in 2 business days means that you will only get it on Tuesday representing 4 days (Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday).

In some cases, you may have a holiday that can slip into your calculation.

For example, if you buy something on Friday and where the following Monday is a holiday (therefore not a business day), two business days may take an extra day to account for the holiday.

Business Day Meaning

To better understand how long is 2 business days from today or 2 business days from Friday (or any other day of the week), it’s important to understand what “business day” means to start with.

A business day is any day of the week except for Saturdays and Sundays along with any other official public holiday.

Depending on where you live and where you are, the definition of business day may be different.

In the United States, a business day is from Monday to Friday starting from 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Although stores may be open on weekends or after 5 p.m., we understand a business day to be generally considered any day of the week between Monday and Friday and from 9 am to 5 pm representing an 8-hour workday.

In some industries, the meaning of business day may slightly be different from the common understanding of a business day.

For example, in the banking sector or the financial industry, they may have holidays specific to them where they may be closed on particular days in a year whereas other businesses are open for the business day.

How Long Are 2 Business Days Example

Let’s look at an example to see how long two business days may be.

Imagine that today is Wednesday and you buy something online.

The merchant says that your shipment will arrive in two business days from today.

So you wonder what is to business days from today?

If today is Wednesday, then two business days from today is Friday (you count the first business day as Thursday and the second business day as Friday).

This means that you should expect to receive your package by Friday.

What if you order something on Thursday?

What is 2 business days from Thursday?

Let’s do the same exercise.

Two business days from Thursday is Monday.

You should count the first business day as Friday, Saturday does not count, Sunday does not count, then you count your second business day as Monday.

So your delivery will come on Monday.

In this example, we counted four calendar days but only two business days.
