How To Do A Kansas Busines Search

Performing a business search in Kansas is quite simple.

Here is how it’s done in a step-by-step fashion!

Step 1: Go To Kansas Secretary of State Business Search

The first step is to access the Business Entity Search Kansas database.

To do a business search in Kansas, you’ll need to have a business name, entity number (not the FEIN), or the resident agent’s full name.

Step 2: Perform A Search

The next step is to perform a search on the KS Secretary of State business entity search tool.

You can perform a search using the business name, business number, or the resident agent’s full name if you have this information handy.

If not, you can also do keyword research to find the business entity or registered agent.

When searching for a business name, if the name is too long you may have better results when only entering part of the name.

Also, if you don’t know the full business name or in what order the words in the business name appear, a keyword search will be more appropriate for you.

When you enter a key term, the database can return up to a maximum of 400 results that are the most relevant to your search.

If you do a search using a business number, you will be able to ensure greater accuracy in your search by retrieving precisely the business entity information associated with that business number.

Step 3: Select Business Entity

Once you have clicked on the Search button, you will be presented with the business entities that are the most relevant to your search.

If there are many business entities that are located, you’ll need to skim through the business search results page to find the business entity that corresponds to your search.

On the business entity search results page, you will be given some information about the entities that best match your search criteria, such as their name, ID Number, and their filing status.

Once you have found the business entity you were looking for or think is the right one, click on “View Record” so you can access the business entity summary page.

Step 4: Retrieve Business Entity Information

Once you have clicked on the business entity of your choice, you will then be directed to the business entity summary page providing you with more information about the entity in question.

On the business entity summary page, you will have the following information:

  • Business entity name
  • Business entity mailing address
  • Business entity type
  • Date of formation
  • Current status
  • State of formation or organization
  • Resident agent name
  • Registered office address
  • Annual reports

The state of Kansas publishes a good amount of information on business entities registered to do business in Kansas and looking up a business entity can provide you with key information on the company you’re looking up.
